Flow Like a River: Yoga at Schweitzer Environmental Center
Join Colleen and Friends of the Fox River every Saturday at 10 am for an All-Level Hatha Yoga Flow featuring fluid movements and restorative poses. Class is hosted at the Schweitzer Environmental Center in West Dundee’s Schweitzer Woods. It cost $20 to attend. Payment can be in cash at the door or digital payments can be made through Venmo or PayPal. 50% of the proceeds go to Friends of the Fox River, a non-profit organization with a mission to preserve and protect the Fox River and it’s watershed through education, advocacy and volunteer work. Join Clear Moon Artists Collective, Neologian Literature Magazine, Yogic Playground for an immersive artist’s experience that will inspire and engage. This event is for artists of all kinds. Bring your instruments, sketchbooks, and journal’s to create the start of something new or bring a current project to it’s next phase of life. Here’s what’s on the agenda:
Sensory Inspiration Workshop: As humans, we rely on our senses daily to contribute to our living experience. For example, the way a pizza smells baking in the oven as friends are over may create a warm, comforting feeling inside as you wait with anticipation to share a meal with your favorite feeling. Or the sight of a hawk swooping down might fill you with excitement and awe. Honing in on these sensations can create rich, impactful art. In this workshop, you will get to explore 5 of our senses (smell, sight, touch, auditory, and taste) with curated presentations of each sense by local artists Liz Coughlin, Colleen Davidson, Caleb Donat and Melissa Franic.
Open Mic: Share your writing, music and art with other workshop participants.
Yoga with Ecstatic Dance Full Moon Meditation (Closing Ceremony): Use your body intuitively in this mat-free yoga class that features Ecstatic Dance and Group Yoga Poses.
$10 suggested donation. A portion of the proceeds goes to non-profit organization Friends of the Fox River.
